Hey Dag thanks for the information about the transporter.

The missiles that the transporter are carrying were known in the West as FROG -7s.

Drove one of the TEL (minus the launch system) and it is quite impressive. It has a Titanium frame a loads of glasfibre panels - not bad for a vehicle designed in the early 60ies,

To my mind, it is one of those things that is so utterly and unashamedly ugly... that it becomes actually ... beautiful...
          A bit like Darth Vader
I found a photograph of it on this website:

          It was apparently Beltring 1999

It must the one. I am sorry to see that they are being unable to sell it. But the price of fuel being what it is, it is also not surprising. It has been relisted on Ebay twice with a £3000 discount to no avail. I am surprised that it is not taken by one of those companies hiring these things out for films. Most of the tanks in private hands are owned by those guys.

But some of the other marching blocks did have the plastic helmet. I think that was just a case of bad organisation, that we did not get the plastic helmets, as they were kept somehwhere centrally and had to be brought in for the occassion. The plastic helmets were not part of the normal issue to us...I think only the Wachregiment and the Spielmannszug and people like that had the plastic helmets as regular issue. Cheers, Torsten.

I have just found this photograph of a pause in the drill for the parade at Schönefeld. Do you recognise anybody?

Matteo, nice photo ..but sorry no...I do not recognise anybody on that photo.. I think the guys you got on this shot are not officer cadets, but are members of the officer academy marching block...Cheers, Torsten.

                      Hi Torsten,

After I offered to copy it for you, everyone else "Chimed In" and it appeared you were going to go with other offers from other members. I assumed they all would follow through with promises/offers being made.

Certainly, if you are still interested, I will have it copied and the copy is yours to have. I can't do this for everyone, but because you are actually in it, I feel you of all people deserve a copy. My video is in color and is reasonably clear.

I need to know your system format however. Is it SECAM, PAL or NCI?

I'll have it copied into whatever system format you desire. Just let me know.

Michael, thank you very much...Andreas (Thaelmannpionier) did follow through with it and sent me a CD with a copy of his black/white video ... thanks again Andreas... unfortunately, I cannot play it on my computer and I have no idea why???... if you were able to send me a UK VHS/PAL copy that would be great... wouldyou also be able to have it converted into digital format onto a CD or DVD??...I would of course pay for the costs...Cheers, Torsten.

PS: btw, I have since had it confirmed by two other guys from my platoon that were also in that parade, that this is indeed our marching block and that I am indeed the person, that I thought I was (front row, third from left)... one of them is the guy on the far left in the front row...the other was in the third row, second from left...they also told me, that we can be seen a lot more on the video, after the march past...as I told you before, we were positioned directly opposite the Ehrentribuene with Honni, Gorby, etc...and they showed us a couple of times using the camera that was position next to or behind the Tribuene....

That is an interesting photo. The "Bloc" in the forground appears to be LaSK and the one behind in the rear, LSK.
