this german talk from his time ......

Which I did and experienced as a GST member, freiwilliger at that time quite happened basis on. Why young people should not themselves knowledge in topography also acquire or learn to move in the area or shoot with air and/or kleinkalibergewehr, how it is possible by the way today in each contactor association. Or to be learned as in my case in the sea-haven base of the GST named "People's Navy division" in Berlin Gruenau the multiplication table the sailor shank: the fundamentals of navigation, the Morse and sign alphabet, signalling, knot up to the Kutterrudern and/or sails. And when high point a 14-Day-Tripp at the central GST naval college "August Luetgens", on board one of the training ships, where the first "sea-legs" grew, as they tended to say in Greifswald Wieck. And all this, if I remember quite, without additional costs, of the ridiculously small monthly contribution and with practical profit of the following four yearyear years in the People's Navy of the NVA.

    hope is ok?

Hello all...Gordon Craig a fellow member has asked me to post some more of W. Pieck items. I hope you all enjoy Gordon's collection items...thanks.

I find it of interest that there are two colors to the Pieck cufftitle. Could anyone out on the forum explain this???

Hello all, Sorry that I can not add any input beyond to say thanks for posting your DDR navy items. But, I for sure have been finding this thread to be interesting since I did not know that there were so many cuff titles within the navy ranks.

So thanks Olivyaya and Hans for posting items from your collection.

                        Olivyaya,

Do the last two cuff bands you posted have light blue backgrounds or are they white? I have seen these with a background of dark navy blue and white but never in light blue.

                        Regards,

                        Gordon

                          DDR Air inspektion

In the former GDR parallel by the Council of Ministers in the year 1957 the inspection station for aviation of the GDR was established. 1961 transferred the head office of civilian aviation (HVZL) the national line, co-ordination and development of civilian aviation in the GDR. 1968 were created the national aviation inspection of the GDR (SLI) and subordinated to the Ministry for traffic. 1990 were replaced the SLI from office for aviation (LFA) and finally integrated as new branch office of the LBA Berlin into the LBA.

These cufftitles were used by the naval branch of the GST. They were for training ships from what little I know. There are two different cufftitles. Both of them came in two styles: white with gold lettering and blue with gold lettering. They were used on the summer and winter uniforms. The other cufftitle is Marineschule August Lutgen.
