About the comments of moderators respectfully this is my opinion.
I´m very new here as a user. I used in the past to read only without participate but I think that this is a good place to speak about B-II as this helmet seems to be the father of the vopo. And I think that all what people can say about this helmet (measures, discuss about its originis, number of that can be in the world actually, new appears in ebay originals or fakes) is interesting to the lovers of this helmet. Particularly for my this forum making this me learn very much.

I wait people continue giving his opinions in the matter.

Just an observation that we need to keep its primary and central focus toward the DDR perspective.

Agreed it is an interesting and informative thread.

An interesting very early DDR helm with three rivets

                I don't like the "54" stamp.

To me, this Stahlhelm looks like a typical early 1st pattern DDR M-56 Stahlhelm that has had the rivets replaced with larger rivets. To my eyes they appear to be position exactly where the original smaller ones would have been located.

I'm not passing judgement; just commenting on what I see.

Sorry Michael, but I think you will find that this is another example of the 54 plastic helmet of which you also have one, and I do too, thanks to Genosse Viktor . Perhaps these posts ought to be moved to that other thread that we had:

                    Thanks Matteo,

I believe you are spot on "Mate".

However, if this is indeed a helmet constructed of plastic or resin, it is not quite exactly like the one I have. This would be an example of the one I am missing, which I think was the next version after mine. It is designed similar to the M-56 plastic helmets, except had the large rivets.

Mine very much favors in appearance the M-35 Stahlhelm of the former Wehrmacht.

                    Good catch Matteo

The seller page didn't mention it to be a plastic helmet but the similarity with the plastic parade ones is evident, so no missing link with the chimerical B/II.

What a pity, I would really be interested in seeing a real B/II or something close to it.

Maybe some former worker of the Thale factory residing in a nursing home could still tell us a story.
