My "Liner" comments in a preceding post may be confusing.
Clarification.
The Liner System 44 developed for replacement of the original liner in the Wehrmacht M-35 helmet, was found to work very well in the new prototype helmets.
However, Dr. Hansel, who was a consultant in the production and testing of the new prototype helmets, developed a newer Liner System named of course, after Dr. Hansel.
So it is possible, prototype helmets, if still around today, could have either the newer Liner System 44 or the liner developed by Hansel.
Additionally, it should probably be noted that the B and B/II were intentionally produced without ventilation holes. This is remarked upon in the Baer Book on page 399.
