    That´s right.
For me the Haas helmet is interresing too. When your friends grandfather said, it needs much money and human work to create such a helmet, so this is the same argument for the Ralf Haas BII. A vent hole in M40 style is difficult to fake.
Why should somebody spend much money and time to create a helmet that differs so much from the Baer photo? It would have been easier to make no vent hole and decal.
If it is a fake, the faker had done a good job, too. And if some could do this, he could also have faked your helmet or Brians one...

O.k but I dont know the measure in metres from haas helmet, perhaps this could be an DDR modified.

Put the vents holes, cut the lips, put the decal I think this can be possible.

      Could be?

Vent holes for me is the more easy thing to do, the dificult radic in fuse the steel to do a new entire piece. I can do appears vent holes and desapears but the other for me is the big problem. And at last do that helmet apears really as old as he must be.

But I can understand your opinion.

I´m thinking that perhaps it can be a swiss helmet modified, the dimensions of it appears that this idea can be possible too.

Haas didn´t measure his helmet, he told in a german forum.
In my opinion, a vent hole is more difficult to fake, because you can´t even drill a hole into a NVA-helmet with common drillers...

No swiss helmet! They are absolutely different!

By the way, Brian, how did you get the holes into the repro-helmets you made?

          Paracaidista...
...we could discuss this until the end of our lives, but we would never get an answer. There´s no absolute evidence, any helmet is real or not. It´s only the owners choice to let it be real or not!

So I say: Congratulations to YOUR real BII helmet!

                  Stephan,

You must tell more about this black and white very old looking cinema reel. What are we looking at?

I believe these photos are of a helmet in the authors personal collection and found in his book:

The next two "real BII"s... and again everyone different from the other...
                            I´m getting mad!

The sideview of this matches with the one in the Baer book, but the rivets are to low...

It´s again different to yours, Brian. The rim looks a little like M56, but it isn´t too...

And this one looks similar to the Haas helmet, but without decal. What is that?
