Thanks, Nico. I'll watch for buttons as I start building a service dress.
    Cheers,

correct. during my time in the army. I wore officer uniforms in the late 1980s and so, the Kragenbinde was only used with the Felddienst Uniforms by me. I did not have to put them into any other uniforms. But different for non-Officer ranks and different in earlier times. Cheers, Torsten.

We must wore it under the "Schwarzkombi" (Arbeitsuniform schwarz). So it was in my line-regiment in Wolfen. Maybe in other line-regiments existed other orders..
I could imagine, that was one step for the realisation of the STAN90, that includes the introduction of the new uniforms.
Anywhere here in the forum are photos of the new Felddienst-Uniformen. We can see there, those olive-coloured shirts were part of it.

Sorry, I think, that´re not the fully facts:

What was i.e. with the "Felddienstanzug No. 2 Winter" ?

Let´s say it so: always, if there was not the "Dienstuniform" was worn under the "Felddienstanzug" or the "Arbeitskombi", the "Kragenbinde" had to be worn.....okay?

BTW: there was a period with fully white Kragenbinden made of smooth leather. If they was dirty, they cleaned it with an eraser... Unfortunately I have never hold one of them in my hands. But my father in law (officer since founding of the NVA) told me about them. And the unpleasant matter while sweating or becoming wet...

Not East German but Soviet. I have them too.
The early East German ones are plain white, but with Button holes. The Soviet ones don't have them.
