    Recent Blumentarn

    Hi Gents,

    I picked up an absolutely beautiful and mint Blumentarn uniform and was wondering if you guys can tell me about it. It doesn't seem to be of the original 'hoodie' cut of the early 60's, but by looking at the pocket and shirt configuration it could be somewhat of a hybrid.

    As you can see from the stamps it's a matching M56 uniform dated 65.

          This style of FDU is OK. I have two of these collared Blumentarn jackets without the breast pockets. There seem to be several patterns of these Blumentarn jackets. As I recall, it was determined that most of the collared jackets without hoods seemed to have been worn by Grenzschutz from the available period photographs.

                        Hello there, I will post my pictures of my DDR Splotch (Blumentarn) camo jacket and trousers that I got 7 years ago. My camo jacket have hood with mesh net in front. Both jacket and trousers are dated 1964. I got that set from a fellow DDR collector.

                          he fixed Hoods are 1st Model. They came in size 1-4, the others in "Normal" sizes like 48, 52 and so on.

                            Which is rarer, 1st Model NVA or MdI Blumentarn? The reason I ask is because I have a 1962 dated MdI 1st Model jacket in Size 4.
