I second that. First, why would the DDR put "made in Germany" on there
items. Second its not like any of the officers sabers I have seen so it's certainly
not a NVA one.Comment

Certainly not NVA and probably not DDR either. Does the blade look like a proper blade that was made to be sharpened? I would suspect not because the days in which swords such as this one were actual weapons, people did not stamp them with "Made in Germany". My best guess is that it is a film or theatre prop.Comment

You have a practice saber with a blunt blade that was made in Germany for import into the US. The sword predates the DDR and was probably made around WWI. It was used for fencing saber or for saber practice.Comment
