just found the answer to that myself...it's set in 1989 and just bought myself a copy online ... Cheers, Torsten.

And more importantly does anyone have it on DVD, willing to lend it to be for watching it? I will of course return it and pay for the postage. Cheers, Torsten.

Torsten,
I am surprised that you did not know of this film. It has been out for some time, advertised as a continuation of the huge success of Sonnenallee by the same director Lenader Haussman. I bought the DVD in Berlin a year or so ago and it had already been out for at least a year then. I do not wish to spoil it for you... but do not raise your expectations too high...

Within four minutes of asking if anyone would lend you a copy of the film, you had purchased your own! However it can't hurt your career very much, since the item is NVA related.....BUT....still it MUST be noted.

The actor who played the downward career-making Volkspolizist in Sonnen allee is the commanding officer at the Fidel Castro Kaserne and he has a gardening hobby... My DVD is in German with German subtitles but at a certain point I think I understood him making a gardening comparison to his bewildered political officer:
"...The NVA is like Kompost..."
