      Yes Jon,
like this one. But ours had the closed tarpaulin.

      Dirk.

BTW: these Tatras was very easy to drive, much more easier than the URALs which we got later...

I also did my driving licence on a W50 ... it was one of the conditions to be accepted to become an officer in the NVA to have the HGV driving licence ... got to sit on the back of an Ural many, many times but never actually drove one...did get to drive a Tatra 813 once in field camp...Cheers, Torsten.

PS: My British driving licence still includes for HGV, although, I have not driven one since leaving the army...

How would you explain this order to Customs .... and possibly even the FBI?

Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

wow...20 Euros for a Maskenbrille.... the things we should have all kept at the time ... I should have filled up a couple of garages full of stuff then...that'd be enough to retire on now...but then again...hindsight is always best.... Cheers, Torsten.

[QUOTE=torstenbel;1741371we also had a special Artillery slide rule ...Cheers, Torsten.[/QUOTE]

Would a regular slide rule be appropiate for a Kartentasche? Did you ever find the special artillery version?

To use a regular slide rule in place of the artillery slide rule would essentially be wrong ... but then again, nobody would know the difference anyhow ...

You can see a lot of artillery playthings here, including the Artillery Slide Rule.

True, most people wouldn't know the difference but I would
Now I need to keep my eyes open for the artillery version
I purchased the civilian slide rule anyway. It was manufactured in the DDR and therefore is worth the purchase.
