couple more NVA signals vehicles...there were still some more and also some other smaller NVA equipment items lurking about...

overall, the NVA displays were of poor condition, but at least they had displays there and that was great to see...the WW2 displays on the other hand were of excellent condition and very good...but of course these would not want to be seen in this forum.... Cheers, Torsten.

      Thanks for the Tour, Torsten.

Interesting that these former NVA vehicles, fixed wing and rotary aircraft, and otehr assorted items were in Alsace, France.

Hi Olivier, yes...Hatten is only about 40km or so from Strassburg...I am surprised you have not been there as yet...I thought you would be the only one here to know the place? well worth the trip...Cheers, Torsten.

Nice images of the NVA equipment, was it just a dedicated NVA museum or was it just a NVA section?

Hi Rob, as per previous...this is a museum dedicated to a very large 240 bed Maginot Line bunker and a large battle that took place at Hatten in January 1945 and the NVA bit is just a sideshow...below is a pic of the front of the bunker...Cheers, Torsten.

this one in Hatten would be a good one to go to ... the bunker is fully accessible with loads and loads of displays inside of every room inside the bunker...I also have taken a lot of pics of those...but I guess that no-one here would be interested in seeing them....Cheers, Torsten.

PS: This was only a kind of Hinterland second line bunker and is not actually a Maginot Line frontline bunker...

                        Hello all -

Torsten thanks for posting the pictures of the displays. I saw some interesting pices of equipment.

It is going to be a shame that this type of musuem display will not be around for the public who want to see this type of stuff in the future. Just looking at Torsten's pictures most of the equipment on display needs to get under some type of protection from the elements or it is going to be rust in the future.

PS - Torsten - glad to see your family enjoyed the equipment...

Hi Ralph, yes they did all quite enjoy it...all of it...the NVA equipment, the planes, the various tanks, the bunker...the WW2 displays in the halls...it was a really good day out...but as soon as we left the museum the rain started lashing down very heavily....Cheers, Torsten.

good question...I do not think that the brown paint on it is original and that it was put on by the Museum people to jazz it up a bit.... Cheers, Torsten.

btw, they also have a website... http://www.maginot-hatten.com/en/index.php?lang=en but I do not think it is very good and it really does not show anywhere near enough of what they have on display...if I had just looked at the website, then I would would probably not have got interested enough to go and see it...Cheers, Torsten.
