Andreas - Interesting funeral photos you have posted. From my point of view, the funeral was for a high ranking military person. Not sure if the funeral was for a general officier, but it was of someone who was important at the time of his death.
Note - There is a visor cap on top of the casket in post 241.
Here is a thread that would go with your photos...

Rare seen Photos of NVA Funeral ..the Photos are from the early days, you can see the tri-colored Shield on the Helmets.
The Photographer Stamp says "Seebeck"
Is there any Informations about such Funerals? Could it be a General or high Political Member?
Any comments are very welcome

to bring this well viewed Thread back to Live,I will post one of my favorite Portrait Photos now in my Collection.
I did get this Photo together with many other Photos from a old KVP/DVP/NVA Vet. He served in the military from 1949!! until 1989 .From 1987 onwards he was a Civil Worker in the NVA.

Andreas
P.S. Please feel free to post your NVA Photos here on this Thread..and I know some of you have nice Photos in their collectionsAttached Files

Andreas,
Thanks for bringing this thread back to life. I spent some enjoyable time reviewing all of the pages/pictures. I'd like to get together sometime after I get settled into Budapest this summer and look at your photo collection first hand. I have to visit NICO in his shop, hopefully sometime before the end of the year, so perhaps we could do it then.
Regards,
Gordon
