Hey Andreas, very nice and interesting photos. It is always interesting to see early year photos. In reference to the the man wearing the leather jacket, I am leaning more on the side that the person is DVP and not KVP, due to the person standing with other DVP personnel round him. Also the same with the man with two women photo; DVP and not KVP.

Hey B Collector,
As I went through your posted photos the one thing that came to mind was that you don't see to many celebration photos of the establishment of the DDR on Oct 1949. So for me your photos are interesting from that stand point. Thanks...Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. Ive always wondered if the early DDR in 1949 used de-nazified Wehrmacht uniforms as Im guessing there would have been planty left after the war. What were loyalties like between the east and west germans then? did they feel separated by the victorius powers, or were there such tensions as...."we are better than you..."
Quite interesting to know the answer to these.
Thanks

Hey Rob...Good question you are asking. Overall by the time the establishment of the DDR in October 1949, alot of incidents had occured between the East and West of which one of them was the Berlin Blockade that occured in 1948. The relationships between the East and West were on thin ice and a good post that represents the ongoing strain between the East and West is post 169 of this thread (by Mikael - Bone Collector). I believe that the mind set of the leadership back then was not overall from a "we are better than you". But from how do we work out issues with our East and West superpowers. For example, the East German leadership was balancing the needs and wants of their own population and the needs and demands of the Soviet administration stationed within Eastern Germany and stay in leadership positions at the same time. A tough situation to be in.
