This happened quite a lot during the 1970s. There is one photograph with a very similar occasion and it is dated as late as 1979. The Keubke Kunz book claims that dark collar tunics were only used as service uniforms after 1974 but it is quite obvious that for many regiments they were used for both service and parade for quite some time. There must have been quite a big stock of them to use up, and you can still find nowadays a mint dark collar tunic with the warehouse label attached.
This particular photograph should be dated approximately between 1974 and 1976 as the officers are not wearing the shoulder chord yet.

Anything like an old party comrade, a Kampgruppen rank or a politically reliable worker.
The ceremony of the Waffenübergabe was meant to symbolise that the soldiers were given the weapons to defend the Workers and Farmers' State directly by the workers themselves...

Very usefull Informations about the wearing of Dark Collar Tunics in the mid to late 70's I didn't know Dark Collar was worn that long Thank you very much

What is also interesting about the oath photograph is that there is at least two oath presentations ongoing. The other oath ceremony is in the background. I did not know that more then one would occur at the same time. I wonder if it was a large graduating class...

Yes,thats quite interesting. Also because they normally would have just one Truppenfahne for this Regiment and oath Ceremony. What kind of Truppenfahne does the other Group of Soldiers use
