Well let me try my luck at posting a trivia question on the DDR forum...

Who was the first Berlin/East Berlin Police chief when the Soviet's established a police force at the end of WWII?

I know that Paul Markgraf was the first President of the Police, Berlin.

              I pass.

Please, if someone else has a good one, feel free to post the question.

Thanks Mike...Well since I am on a roll...let me try my luck one more time...

During the Cold War, the East German capital was East Berlin, but during the early years and specifically during the Berlin blockade of 1948/49 plans were being prepared to establish an a new East German government. During these plans sources were saying that the capital would be established in a East German city.

Question - Where was the first capital rumored to be established in East Germany?

                  I guess it was Leipzig.
Berlin still had no Borders at this Time and was not really the best place for the East German Administration to be capital of East Germany.

Therefor alot of earlyEvents were hold in Leipzig instead of Berlin i.E. The "Messe" or
                  the "Turn & Sportfest"

Maybe I could make a start to revive the trivia thread...??

What specifically was this item used for? There was only one use for it in East Germany..Cheers, Torsten.

Ok I'll hazard a few guesses. I do not believe it was the Wherdienstausweis that was carried in a particular pocket. Internal passport, Dog tags, party membership book, money, gum?

I was told that only money was carried in that pouch...
I use it to carry around the de-activation certificate of my MPiK

The Wehrdienstausweis was carried in a particular pocket, the left breast pocket of the uniform...but this pouch was only ever to be used for carrying one particular item and it was not money (if anyone did carry money in it then that was not correct) and it was not the variety of items listed above, but you might want to narrow your choices down to just one item...I used it...keep going...Cheers, Torsten.

PS: A hint: not every NVA Soldier carried one of these pouches...
