From what I understand from Bob's question, the ship he is looking for did not break through the quarantine. But then again you could have the answer to his question. So far, I have only found ships that were searched by the US and had only normal supplies - like oil and paper

Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group

Here is another ship that was carrying paper supplies that was stopped searched then allowed to proceed again...

Hey Dirk...you are right. His U2 was shot down while conducting his mission over Cuba.

Well let me give the bonus question a try...

I also came across the name Defense Minister Malinovsky of which he had code name Director. Soviet forces in Cuba codename was Trosnik.

The name for Gen Issa Pliyev was Pavlov.

OK - (Not to be a total PIA, BUT,) when we are discussing Cuban based Soviet weapons of mass destruction it seems that it is as easy as yes or no.
                    Or is it????
You guys are on the right track, but here is a big hint...where you sit depends on where you stand. It is important to realize, therefore, that every question I ask is documented to a US source that is considered official. But for the good intelligence officer the real technique lay in social engineering, not in spycraft ... you need to get into the facility to gain access to the documets, right???? So how - or where - do you get the documents??????

Not quite sure what you are asking and I could be missing your question. But here is what I think you are asking.

My initial thought would be to let the folks know as we are going through your trivia round if we have answered any of the questions correctly. It is good to know as we are going that we are on the right track or if we got any of the questions right or wrong.

What you added to this post for addtional hints to find the information is good if we have not answered any of the questions correctly. But at the sametime...I will take any hint when I can get it.

Not sure if I assisted your question or confused you even more.

Good point Ralph! So to allay any further confusion.

                          1. Correct answer. (Maj. Rcihard Heyser. Pic of Heyser is an added bonus. Good job!!)
                          2. 4080th Strategic Reconnaissance Wing Edwards AFB correct.
                          4. General Issa Pilyev correct!!
extra credit bonus - correct!!! (excellent Ralph!) Minister of Defense Marshal SU Rodion Y. Malinovsky was code named Trostnik and General Pilyev was code named Pavlov. If you found this I suspect you were at the National Security Archive website at GWU. That is an outstanding source of info all documented to the people who were making the decisions and the history. (One of my favorite places to lurk, along with the Cold War Parallel History Project. Lost of great stuff, especially for speakers of German.)

I probably just should have said straight out, there are pics of three. If you locate the pics I think you will find a really interesting and valuable website. Sorry for using Zen judo and creating too much confusion.

Sorry, the pic was me (if you mean the portrait of Heyser with pilot-helmet).
                            Thanx for the bonuspoint.

Hello all...to follow up with Bob's last post of answers and please correct me if I am wrong. Dirk, has question number one correct. Ralph has question two, four and bonus question answered. The only question not answered yet is number three of which I have not been able to find a answer to it.

Bob, I am willing to attempt to find answer number three for the trivia round...it is your round to make the final decision of what you want to do.

I also hope by the end of this round we can also read if there is any tidbit of history connected to the Cuban Missile Crisis and East Germany.

did anybody know what´s wrong with our Bob? He is quiet already more than a week now!
Nevertheless, he will not have become a victim of Katrina?
