Well I don't see the Reichsadler anymore.

      1. Where was this picture taken ? (Hint, it was there headquarter)
      2. Which city ? (name the district)
      3. What is this place name today?
      4. What is the name of the plastic sculpture behind the children? If too difficult name the guy on it.
      5. And the easiest question : from which organisation are they coming from.

I think, we should give Andreas (Thaelmannpionier) a chance to answer this one first... Cheers, Torsten.

          Soviet,

You are correct, it's gone. I believe what was actually being referred to was the two sentinel statues at each side of the gate. They are both missing and not missing. They are actually still there, you just can't see them. In the modern photo there are two very large concrete pillars on each side of the gate and the statues are inside the concrete. Instead of removing the statues, they simply buried them in concrete and made larger pillars!

Well, I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to the DDR, and there's no way I can answer questions 1 through 4, but I believe the answer to the "easiest" one, number 5 is, Young Pioneers.

The most important ingredient into helping Richard Staimer's carreer along a bit you completely forgot... he was the Wilhelm Pieck's Son in Law. Cheers, Torsten.
