    Are there any entries beyond the one from 1 June 1941 (post #11)? Looks like he may have been one of the "front line" guys and a German grabbed his book - maybe looking for intel.

      Hi Desantnik and Dave, many thanks for the info Is there a name listed for him at all? My Russian is almost none exsistant


      The last entry is indeed for 1st June '41.

        His signature is after every entry but there is no way to tell the name from that. I wonder what it says on the cover next to the parachute, could very well be his name but its too faint to read (looks like initials N. P. and then Pelekh? Pelyukh? Palakh?)

        As for German writing, I think Dave got it, most likely the guy was captured (or his journal was anyway). I am sure even given his low rank there was something in that log of interest to the Germans (for example, page in post #14 lists numbers of cannons, rifles, trucks, tractors and so on)

            In Latin letters, first initial could be "B", "V", or "N", patrionymic middle initial is almost certainly "P" and last name is Pelyukh or Palyukh.
