    Hat identification

I recently bought a Soviet officer cap that appears to be a M55 model but is dated as being made in 1973.

My belief that it's an older model comes from the much smaller, Fibreboard visor, the shorter woolen band and the slightly smaller crown.

The only other hat I can compare it to is a post-1994 Russian federation cap (the model that resembles the M69, not one of the large "Pinochet" cap), and from photos it certainly seems to more closely resemble the 50s version.

I am wondering if the M55 was continued in production or if this is a well made fake or if it is merely a factory that continued producing the older model.

My post-soviet cap is an identical pattern to a friend's 1980s general's cap so my knowledge on the m69 is based on this and photos online.

EDIT: I had some better photos on another device but had trouble with links so i apologise for the feet/cat but I was getting impatient
