Hey Mike I think you are correct, but I am going to go out on a limb and say that the pin is from Yugoslavia.

      Ralph:

I think we can rule out Yugoslavia because Tito, despite being a good communist, was no fan of the Soviets or Stalin for that matter. I'm pretty sure that this is going to be Soviet and from Oliviers last piece this is probably going to be some obscured organization badge from something like the Karl Marx Day Care in Kiev .

Drat, as always John, you beat me to it. If not a Day Care Center at the Gates of Kiev, then for sure a Pioneer Kindergarten.

Hello all...with the added clue from Olivier, was this pin purchased by visitors after they visited Stalin's grave site???

              Olivier,

Is this pin by any chance worn on the Russian Mausolee Ceremonial Guard Uniform?

No it wasn't... they were wearing a pin badge as you state it correctly but it was a Komsomol one...
I am sorry I have so little info on it !!

Since I cannot help you in any way , I think, in accordance with Rich, I will give my turn to another member... Rich should be the next one, in my mind, since he was the 2nd winner of my previous post ! Thank you very much to you all for your research on this Stalin pin !!
                  Cheers to all

                    RE: Olivier's Stalin Pin

Aahmmm.....by "Rich", I'm guessing Olivier, you mean Ralph?

Also, would it be correct to presume Olivivier, that by your offer to push this thread forward to the next winner (In this case, a previous winner - Ralph), that you also don't know what the pin is, and were hoping a paricipating member of the Forum did? And if that is the case, and no one has come forward with the identity and use of the pin, other than what was initially put forth when originally posted, we are now going to move forward to another pin, badge or medal?

If this understanding is correct, then it sounds to me like Ralph, you are the winner by virtue of having split a previous win, and it is now your turn to post a new item/article. If I may, I would like to offer the following suggestion for future competion, to make this still challenging and rewarding, while also something everyone, DDR and Soviet Collectors alike, can actively participate in. Of course, this is only a suggestion, but I think it will help to insure the thread moves along better, while at the same time it will better serve the true aim and objective for which the thread was originally initiated, which is to educate:

a). The person posting, needs to insure the item they post is at least known to them (In case no one can figure it out). Remember, the object is two-fold here:
                    1). To "Stump-the-Chump", but also;
2). To educate. Which I think all can agree is primary.

b). Keep it Military (Except for the DDR). This would be due to the limited resources relevant civilian items of Soviet origin. There are plenty of references relevant civilian articles of DDR origin, so this would be acceptable.

c). Keep it specific to the “Cold War” era (1946 to 1989).

d). Must be Communist. (Any Communist country works, as long as the criteria in "a" through "c" is met).

Is this agreeable to all? What do you think Ralph? Its your thread idea, so ultimately how it works is your call, and the above is merely a suggestion.

If all are okay with this, and Olivier has conceded to let you make the next new post of an item, (I'm in agreement with that); then I think we can move forward.

Hello all...As with anything...there is some growing pains...with thread games. Now with that said...give me a little bit of time to post a new item for the thread, and I have no problems overall with the additional notes from Mike. BUT let me add one comment to Mike's suggestion. That if there is a badge that WE ALL are stumped on that we put that badge to the side and continue to move on, but continue to do some search/research as time permits in our lives to find out any information on the badge WE are stumped on. Part of the education...

Also...I ask if anyone comes across any addtional information about Olivier's Stalin badge, please post it on the forum/thread as an update, because I am for sure still stumped, but interested in knowing what the badge is...lets help one of OUR fellow forum members.

Hello all...its that time again to Guess this Medal...(background: applause - clapping).

I hope the contestants are ready...because in order to win this round...you need to establish the name of the badge and when this badge was first issued.

And it has been determined by the judges that the contestants get one hint for this round: The badge was established during the Cold War...

So with that...lets play Guess this Medal...(background: applause - clapping)...

Well, the name of the pin is already on it in German. So it is "Self Named". As to the rest of the equation:

This is a kind of a true service “Honor Pin” awarded in the socialist training system for special achievement and honorary activity and cooperation “Over Many Years” relevant to socialist education of the different leading educational youth organizations,.

It was given out by the Office of the Secretary of State for Vocational Training.

It was created Dec 1, 1973.

Well, I'll make my acceptance speach short.....huh? I'm not running for any office?

Okay, here is the next item for us to ponder over. I think everyone already knows my personal ground rules I have set for myself, so the perimeter should be known by now to all. If hints are later determined to be needed, I will indeed provide them when appropriate.

                                To all participants: "Good Luck".
