I collect Soviet WW2, mostly General Dress uniforms and visors...mostly NKVD, but then again not. I wander all over the place, including TR. No discipline.
Dear Friends,
I collect most kind of items related to Soviet and Russian intelligence. This of course includes stuff from the military GRU as well as both KGB and SVR, but also from Comintern, their department OMS and MOPR, and the Soviet Communist Party´s International Department.
I am also interested in some items to do with Soviet Special Forces as parts of their peace time activities are closely connected with their military intel.
Cheers
Joakim
Joakim - Welcome to the Communist Bloc forum and glad you posted your collection interests. I would be interested in seeing some of your collection items. Thanks...

Somebody, after all, had to make a start. What we wrote and said is also believed by many others. They just don't dare express themselves as we did. Quote - Sophie Scholl - White Rose resistance group
Perhaps already mentioned, but I have got hooked on DDR awards lately.

I began collecting Soviet medals and badges, which lead to a growing book collection. As availability dried up and cost went through the roof, I moved to Mongolian medals and badges and was able to get some really nice items before that, too, went the way of the Soviet stuff. I looked around at what my peers were collecting and decided to go a different direction and plunge into DDR medals and badges with somewhat of a lean toward the MfS end of things. I do have a few items in other areas; Bulgarian, Cuban, Chinese, Romanian, etc.; but nowhere near what I have in my big three.
This whole collection thing began as I was doing artwork for a decidedly "red" Irish organization to which I belonged. I was looking for design ideas and began gathering "references"... then it just took off and I became a collector. Weird. So, I guess I'm a disgruntled, old-school Commie clutching at the the remnants of the Cold War for posterity (if they care). I'm enjoying the hell out of it, though.
