Because of the going price (I have seen it sold for anywhere from $380 to upwards of $700), it is a fairly heavily faked award. I would suggest that you run it by the experts at the Soviet Awards Page Forum- they may come off as being hyper-critical, but a couple of these guys really know their stuff. If you care to post an image of the medal in question- not the ribbon part, but a good closeup of the medal itself- front, back, edge, mounting ring, and a close-up of the shield itself, I can give you a preliminary evaluation.
Hello Greg, just got one.It was put on ebay as a fake. But!
This one I bought looks to good as a fake and it seems to be an used one.I collected some pics from this medal,it doesn't look like the fakes I know.
I don't know now how many kinds off fakes there are??
I can't put pics on the forum, can anyone do it for me. So the Soviet collectors can give there opinion??

Why would you care about how many kinds of fakes are out there? Just make sure yours is not one of them. For that you compare it with ONE original like the one Darrell posted. I am sending you my e-mail address, I should be able to post pics for you.

Thanks Albert, the pics are coming.Youre right about fakes, but if I know where I can find the fake details in a medal. Its easier to buy ore not.
Pics on auctions ore ebay aren't that good sometimes.

I think it is, unfortunately, a copy. Too keep things simple, compare the letter "Ж" on your medal with one on an original piece:

Only one type as far as tooling goes.

I agree with Albert...the medal is a reproduction.

I stopped collecting Soviet Medals about 10 years ago. I was able to get one of these for 90 dollars. I just wish I would have picked up more 20 dollar ORB and 5 dollar ORSs!

I am thankfull that I kept my Soviet Collection. There is no way I would ever be able to afford this stuff at today's prices.

The irony is that I collected Soviet Awards when I was at my lowest paygrade. I am now almost to the top of the food chain and cannot even consider buying any additional quality items!
