In the name of "Einigkeit, Recht, Freiheit", I vote to stop this thread immediately.

      I've created a monster!

Let's face it, if the entire world got together and decided to burn every picture of people from the mid 1960s to the mid 1970s I don't think many people alive at the time would object. It's just one of those times when it's clear that Humans are herd animals and will go along with the pact. Even if it is off a fashion cliff

Can you imagine the stylish look if the BW had combined that long long hair with leisure suit collars on their uniforms? Egads!

              long haired bearded soldiers

the long hair & beards makes them look undisciplined and very unprofessional, they dont even look like soldiers

it makes them appear like they dont take their job seriously? or just dont care about it.

they must be part time soldiers on weekend drill, and skipped the shave and haircut so they can go back to work / school / civillian life after drill / training.

National service in Germany was mandatory, but there were alternatives to military service. My understanding is that the anti-war movement (world wide at the time) caused them to relax certain military standards to help ensure the ranks of the BW were filled with minimum fuss. The result... not very good, as we can see
