I thought I'd start this weekend off right with some March 1967 photos of what I believe to be B-W BEPO pictures taken during and after initial entry training in March 1967.
If my identification is wrong, and that has been known to happen, I'm sure my friends in the WAF will show me the error of my ways.
I lived in the BRD in 1987-1990 and again from 2001 - 2004. I must say that I found the green and tan color scheme worn by the SCHUPOs most unappealing and was glad to see the transition to blue take place just as I was leaving.
I must further confess that I found some of these photos, especially the black and white ones depicting the BEPOs in peaked caps, belted long coats, and calf-length boots, a little jarring. I can only imagine what it would have been like for a foreign visitor to encounter these gents in the immediate post-war years. Of course, in my own country right now, civil-police relations are at a very low point. Let us hope this changes soon.
Be that as it may my friends, I hope we can learn about our hobby from these photos, some of which are in technocolor!
