        Good morning folks,
the khaki and sandgrey breadbags were produced with many different details. Think every manufacturer did his own thing... I already so some with natural brown leather stripes, some painted brown or also sand. And there were also variations in the color of the fabric.

The khaki bag you showed isn't a Tragesatz. The Tragesatz was much bigger. This one's the khakigrey Rucksack. Marked with BUND ZB or THW. It also was produced in grey, in later years. It should have been given (but I think it wasn't) to every aide of the LSHD and also to the THW aides. It was used to transport the personal equipment, such as undies, handgloves and scarf, rain suite and much more. I haven't seen a LSHD regulation wich should have been packed into the Rucksack. Think every aide did it his way.

Later also a Seesack was produced for the LSHD. If I have time to, I will post some pictures...

          Simon1988:
are the khaki breadbags with black leather parts also ZB or THW? You mention only the brown leathers. I have seen many a few years ago, but was not sure what organisation used them. They are obviously West German in construction. Like on right of photo, have seen although leather also blacker:

Maybe Klaus. There was a very huge range of variations.

              Time for caps.

This is a "Schirmmütze, Winter" (winter peaked cap) of the first pattern. The kahkigrau clour is here faded. All caps were piped with the colour of branches, here blue for medical branch (Sanitätsbereitschaft). The sides couklkd be folded down like the Wehrmacht Einheitsfeldmütze.
Good morning guys, the visor Hoover's showing here isn't a faded LSHD medical visor but an early sand white THW one. Before founding the LSHD, the THW also wore blue piping on their visors and jackets. Manufacturers common to me are G. Teufel & Soehne, Tuttlingen and Landgraf (Bamberger Muetzen Industrie). Think there still were some more.

@ Chiffonier: I now took an more exactly look at our breadbag and am a little surprised now. May I ask where you got it from? I know a Mr Westermayer who's still with the THW...

              kind regards

                Hey guys,

as written in my earlier post, I want to show you the different types of Tragesaetze. First the khakigrey one:

There were 3 different types of Tragesaetze in the LS-Bergungsdienst. The A-Satz was carried by the Gruppenfuehrer and one Truppfuehrer, Satz B and Satz C were each carried by 4 aides.
The Tragesaetze could been carried like Rucksaecke or also fixed at the Koppel.

To the content of the A-, B- and C- Bag more later...

And here we have the bluegrey version of the Tragesatz:

It is the C one. When changing the LSHD color from khaki to bluegrey, the Bergungs-Tragesaetze were delivered in bluegrey, too.

Btw, the THW used the Tragesatz bags till the 1990s.

                  kind regards Simon

Just got my new LSHD jacket with pink "Veterinärdienst" piping and collar boards.

Now I have the complete uniform. Hurra.

                      Hoover,

Congratulations. Nice to see a complete set like this.

                      Regards,

                      Gordon

Ooo! Yes, one of the most difficult elements of old uniform collecting is when the service uses colored piping. I've given up trying to have matching sets for 1960s BW uniforms. Too many combinations!

                          Team,

This is a wonderfully educational thread. My thanks to all the contributors.

                          I had no idea....

                          All the best,
                          TJ

Steve, there are only thirteen different colours...

...and what would be collecting without defined targets!

@Frank: Nice uniform! Did not see many ZB tunics with full insiginia... and for sure not one in pink!

                              Good morning guys,

right here some more pictures of my THW / LSHD collection:

First the early khakigrey gasmask bags...

There have been two different types. By the early one the shoulder strap is fixed with a snap hook, by later bags the shoulder strap only is led throud d-rings at the backside of the bag.

second one: an early LSHD or THW Schiffchen (sidecap).

and also another Schiffchen, as worn with the sand colored jackets with brown piping.

                                And some grey stuff:

                                my second version Filzlaus jacket.

Jackets in this style were worn by the THW from around 1966 to 1974. From then on the THW started to launch the blue / grey dress uniform. The blue stripe below the THW sign marks a Gruppenfuehrer. The pins on the pocket were added by me, they are the same age and I think they fit to the jacket.

And the two types of Filzlaus hats:

The second one looks very similar to the WW2 M43 visor.

The THW wore a metall THW sign pin on top of the visors as you can see at the following one.

And last but not least some important pieces belonging to the Filzlaus:

The braces were buttoned inside the Filzlaus trousers. German Bundeswehr used the same braces but in an olive grey color.

Wool scarf and pullover were worn in the cold season and also worn to the usual bluegrey working suite. Similar scarf and pullover were available in khakigrey color before. I am still on the search for these...

                                kindest regards
