    1.Gebirgsdivision

A couple of weeks ago I received a box of items from an auction house in Germany. Several of the items were related to the 1.Gebirgsdivision. As I record these items in my inventory I'll post them here. If you have any Gebirgsdivision items please post them here as well.
I will start with two commemorative beer steins from two different units. The first stein belonged to StUffz Wild of Stabskompanie, 1.Gebirgsjagerdivision. Their duty station was Garmisch-Partenkirchen.

Murnau isn't far away from my hometown., I am there like once a week.
Gb.Fm. Ausb. Btl 8 was re-named to Fü.Ustg.Btl. 293 (Führungsunterstützungsbatallion 293) in 2006 which is part of the SKB (Streitkräftebasis).

        Towarish,

Thanks for the update on the history of FmAusbKp 1/8.
Do you collect BW artifacts? If so, I 'd be interested to know what you collect.

        Regards,

        Gordon

          Hi Gordon,
I don't collect Bundeswehr at all. I was just a regular boot on the ground (infantry) and I now serve active in the Reserve.

My buddy is the chief of the civilian workers at the base of
          Fü.Ustg. Btl.293.

The former commander of the base was my aunt's neighbor.

          Cheers,

              Thanks Gordon, you are welcome.
Btw. I made a mistake in post #3. The Btl. was just called Gb.Fm.Btl. 8 and it was based in the Werdenfelser Kaserne ( A beautiful, old 3rd Reich barrack.)
If you have more steins to post, please show them.

              Greetings
              Phil

                Phil,

No more steins, at least for now.

                Regards,

                Gordon

What helps these caps maintain their shape? The heavy open weave burlap type material shown here helps in this area.

A different type of makers label is used in these caps.
