Here is the issue enlisted version of the M56 cap Jens posted. This one is dated 1960. The edelweiss is sewn on (cant feel if the prongs are still on, may have been taken off prior to sewing).

          PASSAUER8884,

Nice looking cap. I have never seen prongs on these badges. That is why they are sewn into place.

          Regards,

          Gordon

Thanks Gordon! I'm partial to that piece too.

              Jens,

That's a very nice jacket you have! I've not seen close up pictures of the EdelweiƟ on such an old jacket. It's always nice to see pictures of things I probably will not have for my own collection

I also like the upside down swords. It's like a young kid who wears his hat backwards to be cool

Steve, your probably right on the swords ...

This jacket was a must have as unchanged four pocket tunics are harder to get then their predecessors ...they were for sure to new to be banned to the closet when the new boards occurred. Several of my "60ies" tunics are made before 1962 but changed ... and beside the original state this one has the bonus of starring that nice patch, the wearers name and two hats ...

                Regards,

                Jens

Thanks for posting the photos of the two different edelweiss types. My 1961-dated officers M56 cap has the prong-style edelweiss attached.
