        Klaus,

I do not own a Wachbattallion Heer uniform. Hopefully soon though!

To add to this thread, here are some photos of Wachbattaillon berets from my collection. First an enlisted man's beret from 5./WachBatlBMVg.

I don't have an embroidered beret for this company. What I would like to post next is a beret with an embroidered cap badge for a LwSicherungsStaffel. You can see in this badge the inspiration for the 5./WachBattlBMVg arm badge pictured earlier on the cammouflage tunic.

And lastly, an officers beret from one of the Heer companies with an embroidered cap badge. The only indicator that the wearer of the Marine uniform is part of the Wachbattaillon is the cap tally shown in an earlier photo.

                    Nice thread.
I had two former members of 5./ Wach.Btl.BMVg in my platoon in Bonn.
They were both in the drill-team.

                        Jens,

No it isn't. I've visited this site many times. What I mentioned to you in my email was a dedicated forum in Germany thats main focus is the Wachbattallion. It functions much like this forum but onlly discusses the Wachbattallion.

                        Regards,

                        Gordon

I have one of the heer uniforms(tunic) I post it as soon as i have a chance to dig it out, and get some photos. (no belt or beret or overcoat though). Interesting thread gordon...did they ever have bullion cufftitles?

                            juoneen,
I don't know if they have bullion cuff bands. Be interesting to find out. I've never seen one. If there was a bullion cuffband it would be worn by officers I guess. That is the way they do it in other units that wear cuffbands such as the Luft Traditions Squadrons, Panzerbrigade 9 etc. I look forward to seeing your Heer tunic. Does it have sewn in boards or slip on ones? There have been a number of Heer Wachbatallion tunic that have come on the surplus market lately and they are complete except they do not have shoulder boards and they have a loop to attach the boards to the shoulder and not the normal Heer tab at the shoulder seam to sew the boards to. These tunics raise questions about the shoulder boards the Wachbatallion wore. Did they all wear slip on Boards? Here are some pictures of those tunics.

                            Regards,

                            Gordon
