Oooh, and late issue with the rounded epaulettes. For some reason every time I get one of these it is pre 1963 with the pointed epaulettes.

I have one of these, but it was overdyed black. I'm not sure the construction is 100% identical, however a lot of care was put into the construction of it. I got mine for $1 and probably $15 in shipping. My wife wore it around for a few years and now it's likely to become a button donor.

I wonder if the tailoring was while it was in service or out. I can easily see some officer having it modified.

O.k., another one of these.... a fellow collector here in germany also adopted one of these Ike jacket ...in my opinion it was a large scale atempt to bring these jackets onto the civil marked when they where phased out in great scale to the end of the 80ies...perhaps carried out by MilTec Sturm, the company which also converted NVA greatcoats to jackets, duffelbags to vests etc pp ...
