The key is for turning something square,maybe the traindoors.

A nice M43 style DB cap arrived in the mail yesterday. Unworn and in mint condition. A new maker to me as well.

There are already some grey strassenbahn visors in this thread.
Here's a tunic to go with those.
Constructed in heavy wool.
Two inside pockets and on the bottom one is a button fixed with the letters KVG R on it.
I've googled for that abreviation and there are more then one possibilities for it.
Kieler Verkehrs gesellschaft (Kiel) or Kahlgrundverkehrsgesellschaft in Bavaria.
However I'm going for the biggest and oldest strassenbahn ; Kasseler Verkehrs Gesellschaft (Kassel).
If I'm wrong please say so and I also wonder where that R on the button stands for.

stuff found in a pocket

Found in a pocket once.
Looks pretty offical to me.
I guess someone had a bad day realising he lost his key.
Don't know if it's for the doors or the actual engine key.
If the Deutsche Bahn would like it back,as it was an honest find,I will gladly send it to them.
Imagine the train it's from isn't running anymore since the key went missing....
Might be a reward in it $$$
