Surprised no one has started thread on Deutsche Bundesbahn. DB items are relatively common in Germany, maybe not so much in USA. I no longer collect them and currently hold these uniforms for fellow WAF member but thought I would start thread on them. I also have some of my modern DB tickets if anyone is interested to see what they look like now.

Second pattern DB tunic with Schirmmütze. I think this style cap is standard (there are other types for specialised positions. I encountered closed collar first pattern in Bonn recently, but I did not need to buy DB items!

Tunic is dated 1963, maker is Bekleidungswerke Josef Neckermann. Kragenspiegel indicate Besoldungsgruppe A1-A4 (lowest pay grade). Cap undated, maker Carl Isken.

I have already posted the Bahnpolizei tunic but they were part of DB so I post better photo of it here. Today their role is done by BGS/Bundespolizei but I have seen uniformed personal "DB Sicherheit" personal with red shoulderboards and Flügelrad on Schirmmütze (no Kokarde).

This summer tunic dated 1969 with recently introduced (at the time) 1969 pattern insignia for Hauptsekratär. Very thin with no liner.

Gentlemen,

I think that the cap pictured below was worn by the DB Ferry Service. Can anyone confirm that for me? It was on auction recently but I did not buy it as price was high and authenticity not proven. This is the only picture I have of this cap.

railway busdriver tunic from the early fifties from the deutsche bundesbahn.
no markings in the tunic.
rank is for einfacher dienst or simple duty.
armbadges like that of the bus are called spartenabzeichen I learned all recently.
don't know the answer to the question from the last post in this thread however.

real silk woven collartabs and I don't see any difference between these an pre 1945 ones.
gold coloured pebbled buttons by W&L brothers.
seems that in the second part of the fifties a new type busdriver patch was introduced.

TJ,I like the patch as well,however internet information until when this type was used varies.
this is another one wich is on sale somewhere.

the Bremen badge is for the railway sport association Blau Weiss.
eisenbahn sport verein bremen.
all kinds of sports are within that club.
the pin probably unreadable in this picture reads blau weiss 25 years shootingsport 1967-1992 .

I have another tunic wich is ecxactly the same in cut but has other collar patches.
also unmarked.
don't need to show that tunic but I've added some other patches for comparrisson.
these ranks are all about pay grade.
upper left is on a tunic is for paygrade A5-A8.
next to it is front and back of a set for A1-A4.
bottom set is for A11 and up,wich I can't put a date on because they might be ww2.
collar patches on the previous tunic in this thread is for ;lohnbedienstete.
means just being on the payroll.

here you have some comparrisson between DDR and bundes.
4 on the right are west,others including the schiffe DDR.
these schiffe caps look deadlike the ww2 type.
other picture on the left are all Austria.
the ones on the right are unidentified,so if someone recognises any ;post it.

Johannes Heinrich visor bundesbahn

1980 dated visor,chincord represents paygrade.
half blue/half yellow is for middle paygrade.(mittlerer dienstes)

again middle paygroup but old style high top visor with velvet cap band dated '66
the so called lager bügel or storage roundiron is still in it and a label is attached to it that it has to be removed before wear.

Really interesting stuff. Those bus driver tunics are new ones to me. Lots of interesting research here.
