        Very interesting thread Bernhard.
The leather chinstrap of the first lid looks like the WWII czech one.

          Hi Phil ,

Thank you very much for your comment.
And congrtulations to your one thousand and first post too

The chinstraps of the B-Gendarmerie helmets are clearly patterned after
the "old" austrian pattern , using brown leather and black painted hardware. In this case a black painted "Rollschnalle " (rollerbuckle).

The chinstraps seem to be made by the firm : K.& A. Stolla , Wien

Here a pic of the stamp : (Stolla,Wien)

            Here you can see a M 1925 austrian chinstrap on a M 17 Gendarmerie
            helmet.

And , finally , the czech variant chinstrap done in austrian style.
So you are right : looks very close to the Austrian variant.

              regards

                Hi fellow collectors ,

to keep you informed I will add some pics of another B-Gendarmerie helmet
that I could add to my collection some month ago.
Here are some pics from the outside sporting the flaming bomb device :

Here an inside view of the helmet showing the liner that has been treated
                  sometime ago.
The chinstrap is of an early type and unknown to me.

The main reason for aquiring this helmet was , besides the fact that it is a real nice specimen of a B-Gendarmerie helmet , the fact that it is nicely stamped in the rear apron.

The stamp reads GBA 1951 which translates as Gendarmerie Bekleidungs Anstalt.

                    Hope you like it !

                    Regards

Very nice Gendarmerie helmets! Is the flaming bomb identical to the pre-war bomb insignia? They look similar from photos but I can't tell.

                        Hi Schupo ,

From my observation these "Korpsabzeichen" all follow the same pattern but are slightly different from each other.

                        Regards

                          Hi fellow collectors ,

I found these things today on an so called "Sammlertreffen" (Collectors Meeting) and I am really pleased with them.

You can see two "Korpsabzeichen" (Corpsinsignia) of the Austrian Gendarmerie and a device that is called "Feldzeichenschraube" to fix the
                          oak leaves onto the helmet.

The thread of the screw is so short that it will definetely not fit the M17 type helmets and therefore is a strictly B-Gendarmerie item to be used on the German WII helmet models.
