The german Stahlhelm in use by the B-Gendarmerie

    Hi fellow collectors,

This time I would like to show you three helmets from my collection that have been used by the B-Gendarmerie.
All three shown helmets are unique in their liner configuration and paint finish as well.

Helmet number one is a huge ckl 68 M 42 shell with it`s original wartime
german liner that shows some modifications , however.

The outer liner band has received a coat of "eisengrau" (irongray) paint during a rather sloppy repaint.

The helmet is named twice and sports a typical brown gendarmerie chinstrap.

Here we can see the modifications done to the liner:
A rivet secures the seam in the rear of the leather and the eisengrau
paint on the liner´s outer ring.

The next helmet is a nice little 62 shell , sporting two coats of
gendarmerie paint and the flaming bomb insignia.(Korpsabzeichen)
This helmet also has a quite interresting liner configuration as we will see.

Liner shot of the small 62 helmet.
This time a completely new leather has been cut to form the liner.
Of interrest is that there is no inner/outer ring arrangement as it is used in
            the original german liner.
The leather seems to be fixed onto the shell only with it`s inner ring.
Note the traces of the darker eisengrau paint on the leather.

It took me some time to realize what is "wrong" with the chinstrap bales
              on this helmet...
They are salvaged from an old austrian M17 style helmet.
              Love this little detail.....

Shell is stamped in the rear with what seems to be an additional
                inventory number.

The third Gendarmerie helmet has a quite interresting configuration :
The Korpsabzeichen is the painted variation instead of the brass variant and this helmet also sports the so called "Feldzeichen mit Feldzeichenschraube"

Uuuuups, almost forgot to show you this nice civilian style helmet in
                              the typical gendarmerie color.
Don`t know for sure what the BG/55 means , however!!
