Here we see some pics of the net placed on a BW helmet from
1956.
You can clearly see the face veil part of the net.

I reread the chapter on the first BW helmet in the Bear book , but I only
can say that the government planned to invent the US/Begium helmet
model.
Baer does not state that the germans have actually bought helmets from
Belgium.
Strange for me is one statement about the german helmet industry :
Mr Bear writes that "....after producing the two piece helmet for France
and the US , the german industry was well prepared for the production of
the own BW helmet ".....
Never knew that there was a german production US M1 helmet ??

I can say that the 6941 Guard Bn. U.S.Army Berlin used German made Helmets. maybe I have some left in my collection. Must check this.

I am still unsure about the meaning of the "3"
Could be the size of the shell - or- the third month of `58.
Don`t know.

In Germany it is common to work with a so called "KW" or Kalenderwoche.
That means the Helmet was made in the 3rd Week of 1958.

Same funny system as the Americans used on Miltary Papers, like parts orders etc..

like: 4123. The first Number is the last of the Year and the others the day.
So if you have something from the 70' it means 1974 - the 123rd day of the Year.

I just stumbled across these pics from the issue helmet cover for
the M1A1 helmet adopted in very slow quantities.
I was silly enough to let this one go

P.S.:Bought them 15 or 20 Yrs. ago and never saw them again on the market.
BTW: Got them in Bavaria in a small shop next to a Mountain Troops Post, mabe they were used only by them as they're that rare.

For the number 3 in the Schwedenhelmets I will show again those stamps,
really doubting the week theorie ...

The number 3 repeating on all three helmets seems to much of a coincidence.
