The next helmet will have the decal of the Hansestรคdte Hamburg. This police force, and that of Bremen were the only two that wore different decals on opposite sides of the helmet.
First the decal on the wearers left side.

The wearers right side for the shield worn by Hamburg and Bremen on this side. I do not have a helmet with the left side decal for Bremen.

It's stamped Q64. That's the only one on it.

The helmet looks like it's been polished. The other one beside it doesn't have as much shine.

BGS Helmet Cover worn in the field

This photo from the book Das Deutsche Heer, by Juergen Schroeder, shows two BGS jaegers conducting mortar training with a British Army NCO (Monty lives!) in the mid-1950s. Note the helmet covers and camo smocks.

                            G5,

I've been looking for a sample of this type of camo material for some time. Thanks for posting it. I wasn't sure if it really existed or if it was just the photographs that made it look different than the darker camo pattern of the same design. I tneded to believe it really existed becasue there were so many different photos showing this type of camo. Great reference pictures of the camo covers. Thanks again.

                            Cheers,

                            Gordon

                              Genossen,
I was told that the BW was Camouflage hungry in the 1980's, they would trade for any NATO Camouflage they could.. Is this true?, I have The 1959 and Amoeba Camo Helmet Cover and Camo Net on my Heer and Falli Lids..

                                Hi,

                                first, I'm not a Genosse, I'm a comrade.

Second, West German soldiers used severel camouflage material for the old helmet, and it was not of interest, which sort of camouflage. You could use, what you need in the particular environment, e.g. in winter time with snow a piece of a bed sheet, the "rest" worn as a cape. You can add such pieces to your collection
In German we say: macht nicht einen solchen Wind darum.

                                Regards
                                Uwe
