    Cigarette case

    I got this self made aluminum case in a package deal with some othe cases.
    What period is it from and where it was made?

          Nice , looks period done , showing RAF or RAAF planes , pacific themed possibly

            It is Italian, Italia is the Italian spelling of their county and Egitto is Egypt in Italian. I don't know about India may mean something in Italian. The back is North Africa, I would guess it is pre to early WWII

                Looks like something made in Cairo during the 1930's to WWII. Engraving possibly done by an Italian POW.

                    exactly. They were manufacturing by POWS using aluminum plates and kit tin to eat.

                      'Italy, Libya, Egypt, India'. India is the 'odd man out', otherwise it looks like something an Italian soldier or POW would make to pass the time, and perhaps sell. Maybe he fought Indian troops in North Africa - there were many present. Interesting piece and, I agree, probably early WWII vintage.

                        If there is an Italian native speaker on the form he may be able to shed some light of the India question, it may have some colloquial meaning.
