I can see that some of the ships were:
HMS Repulse
HMS Emerald
HMS Hood
HMS Warspite

but in 1938 as I understood.

Right...here is a list of the ships photographed in and around Malta/Palestine (1200 miles apart) in 1936:

HMS Jervis Bay, Glorious, Widnes, Exeter, Valiant, Queen Elizabeth, Durban

Also:

HMHS/HMT Somersetshire
HMAS Australia
SS Tuscania

My grandfather was in Palestine 19th September 1935 - 20th December 1936 with the Lincolnshire Regiment, so that's when these ships would have been present.

I've just found it, with a ship that hasn't been mentioned so far: HMLCH 282 in 1945 (HM Landing Craft Headquarters).
