Hi CB! The inside pocket flaps are blanket lined (a good sign of a trench uniform). The inside collar is still dirty and the uniform has signs of wear etc. The label is very dirty and his name can only be seen with blacklight through the dirt. (the same with his cap). Because it has not been cleaned it still has a rich colour. It seems likely he did wear this for at least a time at the front, (he only joined up in Jan 1916 and didn't reach the trenches until August 1916). See what I wrote about the MC ribbon bar in the top pocket. He probably retired this one when he went back to the front after being wounded in Nov 1916. Adam
