    Windproof jungle shirt question.

    Hello all,

on occasion i find that a few British items enter my collection due to their use by other armies in various conflicts post 1945.

One such item is this windproof jungle shirt. On the rear of the shirt there are two sets of what i can only describe as support loops...but for what?

They are made of the same material as the shirt (naturally), but have no real tensile strength to them. I cannot imagine thay would support any real weight at all...

Any ideas as to what their purpose was?

    Patrick.

A close detail of the loops.

The shirt is 1945 dated incidentally.

Well here is my 2d worth.

My guess if it is like the Canadian 1950s Bush gear It was for rolling and securing to the back of your webbing??

At least that is what we used similar ones for.

Cut in the French style, looks very Indochina. Nice piece.

Rock Biters theory makes good sense.

          Yours, Guy.

            Hello both,

many thanks for the replies. The notion they could be used for securing to webbing does indeed make sense!

Never would have thought of that on my own.

The shirt was made by "I.Miller & Co" according to the label, and does indeed form part of my Indochina collection.

            All the best,

            Patrick.

              Congratulations Patrick, lovely shirt!

Did you see the fully badged set of bulletproofs sold on ebay recently? A friend was lucky enough to get them. He nicked them for about $1200 I didn't bid cos I thought they would make treble that.

              Yours, Guy.

                Hello Guy,

I remember them well, lack of cash at the time = no bidding.

Too much month at the end of the money again.
                There were/are nice.
Another set are floating around for $2600 at the moment.

                One day...

                Patrick.
