    hi boys does any one know what this is it dates from the 16 hundreds thanks

    Other than the hairstyle, it resembles the Austrian Maria Theresa thaler, the world wide trade dollar which was introduced about 200 hundred years ago.

      Yep thats what it is

      Used as a sort of a 1 troy oz 'Standard Trading Piece' up until a few years ago in many counties that did not have a 'Cash Economy' (Remote Africa, Asia and the Middle East) and as a way to move cash in and out of counties that had curancy restrictions.

      I believe they were privately minted right up until the 50s or 60s.

      Its value is basically for silver content so what ever 1oz will get you.

      Just as an aside many years ago during the 1980s big silver Boom~bust many of these were melted down so it is actually harder to find them in used condition rather than mint.

      I know I set about 5000+ off to the smelter

        thanks guys but this is not silver on the back it says. 1689 the first land tax.1689stampduties imposed.1695 tax laid upon batchelors and widowers.1700 the firstauction in england

            If that is athe case then is could just be a historical recreation peice of some sort.
            Is it made of lead?
            Can you give us a pic of the obvese?

                I would email a pic of it off to him he is quite the collector and would give you a fair estimate of what it is worth.

                It is beginning to sound like it is some sort of tourist coin or alike. Who know it might actally be worth something
