    Zps

    Greg,
Just to "muddy the waters" ... I believe the ZPS had either access to, or either one of their members from the early 50's was producing association "retro" badges, .. of which some were glider !!!!
.. So, there were even some glider badges floating about amongst ZPS members for the past 50 years !!
........... Again yet another pitfall !!! as no-doubt collectors may have obtained a badge from an original veteran believing that it was the "business" !!!

    Polish "Collector "..
.. Yes .. I know who he is ... and most probably you do as well !! The only member and chairman of a self promoted "Scottish-Polish Society" ....enough said !!!

I should also state that I spent some time trying to track down the original 14 !!! ..... the trail lead me all over the world via e-mail ..... New Zealand ... USA .... etc etc ... and ALL trails were cold !

The Badge I have took over 5 years of grafting and research to obtain ... and so I'm afraid it's not up for grabs .... sorry

    Regards

    Gary J.

    thank you
    very interesting indeed........
any idea who the "Polish collector" was??
and too bad they didnt let you get a look at their records
    would have been interesting indeed...........
We still havent been conclusive in regards to the one just sold..
sounds to me like we are at a 50/50 situation in regards to it....

Its either very inexpensive or very expensive................
    difficult to tell.............

but as a fellow collector says...
the evidence talks against it being right, as it is so rare...
    hardly likely to turn up.....

    unless of course...................
you are interested in selling yours.????????????????????

        Greg,
The ZPS was the Polish Airborne Forces Association.
        ...Now defunct !

And here is a photo of a glider badge at the Sikorski Institute in London...
I wonder if it is one of the 14.....or one from the Kirkwood storage room...or the Sikorski storage room for that matter..
anyway thought it might be of interest

If it came from anywhere else I would doubt it..as the wreath seems a bit shinny compared to the one Gary posted...but being from the Sikorski...........

              Suspect

              Greg,
I would suspect that this badge being at the Sikorski would at minimum be a Kirkwood assembly piece .. if not one of the 14 !

              Gary J.

As for colours ... well as ever it all depends on the enviroment the item has been kept in ....

You may not know, but various of the items on display are copies. There are a couple of White Eagles that are Panasiuk copies, and there are various badges and patches that were incomplete for units display purposes that were also repros...So all is possible....I think they are in the process of a reformatting of the museum, in which the repros will probably go.
                all the best for 2007!!!
