    Fssf

I went through my lists and it appears as though there never was a Canadian officer by the name of Flint in the FSSF. This includes the overseas draft in October 1943 and the list compiled in Southern France- which BTW includes all reinforcements wounded since the breakout from Rome. The only other thing I can think of is he was an early drop-out of the parachute program at Helena. The name does not ring a bell though and I dont have the time right now to dig that list out.

The patch you have is def made in the wartime process however the overly thin lettering and the style in general was made after the war in the 1950's before the rescindment of the patch in 1957. These are the ones you see in vast numbers on E-Bay which people buy as authentic WW 2 manufacture. Please remember that US patch manufacturers continued to make patches in the thousands after the war. I have the resubmitted artwork for these patches. Some are found glued into patch books released after the war for institutions and collectors. This patch matches those patches exactly. A good rule of thumb is if you see hundreds of mint examples floating around of the same style patch- beware. They actually did not make a lot of FSSF patches during the war. I have the numbers. The real ones are rarer than you think . Most of what you see sold today were made between 1945 - 1957. The Force members after the war acquired these patches as I have examples from vets. Some told me that these were not their original patches but examples sold after the war. I hope to have a book out on this via Service Publications after the one on 1CPB is released.

The FSSF patch is an original cut edge US made patch. I've shown the piece to several patch collectors and they all said it was fine.

I'll post the info on Lt Col Flint as soon as I get it.

    Happy Holidays,

I spoke to a friend who also knows the collector who had Flint's named medals. Apparently they have been sold. Will try to find out who now has the group.

The new owner may be interested in obtaining the peripheral items that may (or may not, judging by some of the replies here) have belonged to Flint.

        ..

At the CFB Petawawa base museum, which has an SSF display and many artifacts there was an old book hardcover 1940s 1950s production which was a nominal role and personal info book on all 1st SSF members with just basic info about them. I know because I looked up a name in it with the help of the custodian. Just dail 613 687 5511 (extension 6238).

He is a relative of mine! I have his real Airborne Cap brass sitting at my father's house.
I am looking to contact whomever currently holds his regalia.

I am LtCol Flint's daughter. These items were taken from my family and sold without my knowledge. The ID bracelets are dear to me as are the gold PPCLi cufflinks my mother had made for my father. Is there any way Zi could recover these items from you on terms to be discussed . Please email me at d_flint@hotmail.com.thank you.

                  Without my knowledge...

Not sure what "taken from my family and sold without my knowledge" means. It strongly suggests theft. Do you have a police report?

No. I did not know they were missing until I was told they had been sold. They were left in the care of a friend of a family member.

I am making one more attempt to trace these medals and personal items belonging to Flint. He was my father, and several years ago I departed Canada, leaving these items with my son, who subsequently fell on hard times, and sold them. I was unaware of this until 2 years ago, when I posted my comments in this thread. I am not plying they were stoen, rather that they were sold without my knowledge. I would dearly love to reaquire these items and would, of course, be ha
Py to buy them back, i. Particular the ID bracelet and the PPCLI cufflinks, which were both made for my father by my late mother.any information on their wherabouts would be greatly appreciated. I can be contacted here or at d_flint@hotmail.com. Thank you.
