Battledress jacket The Cameron Highlanders of Ottawa

    Hi guys,

Can anyone say for sure if the insignia on this jacket is genuine?
This jacket was vet aquired, but just to be sure I will it pass here
Can anyone tell me why there are black and blue versions?

    Thanks in advance,

    Greetings Edgar

    Looks about right.

The "MG" got tacked on the bottom of some of the pre and post war badges this seems to be correct with the correct DIV patch.

Can we see the front of the tunic and a close up of any stamps it may have.

        Hi Edgar

The shoulder titles look right to me and are identical to English made examples I had on a BD that once belonged to a piper of the unit. These were acquired later in the war and usually worn home. The earlier examples are a tighter weave yellow on black and include the MG below. Nice classic example. Too bad you dont know who wore it?

Thanks for the good information. I don't know it yet, but I didn't ask it so. I will ask it when I go pick up the uniform. Í also bought 1944 dated trousers with this jacket, samen owner . Both Aug. 1944 dated. But I will post that when I have nice photo's or a mannequin.

Stamps and date and the c broad-head are all ok.

Even got made by Tip-Top Tailors (still exists as a company by the way) as a maker so it was Canadian made most likely in Montreal.

            cheers

              Hi,

Thanks for the help again, it's really nice to know that details. Do you have any clue what such jacket would be worth? Not that I'm going to sell it though.

              Thanks in advance,

              Greetings Edgar
