finally got this today after waiting ages to complete a deal

Have seen these Artillery Officers ones in photos but this is the first I've ever seen "in the flesh"

The cap badge is a bullion "flaming grenade"... it's dated 1944 and made by Kangol. I was told by the person who sold it to me that it came with a lot of ATS uniforms named to a lass with the second name of Kennedy. I checked this out in "The Gunners At Arnhem" not expecting to find anything - but no, i was wrong. There was a Kennedy listed - Capt C O Kennedy of the 1st Forward Obs Unit attached to 1st Para Brig HQ. His glider never actually made it to Arnhem though as it was forced to land only a few miles after take off lucky for him though! I have checked some other Airborne Artillery records and this is the only vague kind of match I can come up with. Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks, from Jack.

A very nice beret indeed in super condition These ww2 para berets always seem to be larger and more floppy than todays counterparts .Rob.

                        Para Beret

Rescued from a rubbish tip! These 3 hats were found in the same bag on a rubbish dump! The peaked cap is named (I also have a service number) so I am assuming the three belong to the same person. if so it should be possible to trace the original owner. For those who have access to such things could someone please send me a PM to advise on how I can go about it or maybe offer their services to help. The beret on the left is private purchase and the beret on the right a 1945 Kangol. The insignia was recently given to me but after reading all these posts I'm no longer sure if they are WWII or not. Surfice to say these hats have pride of place in the collection. Thanks Roy.
