My favourites are 'Lost Victories' by Field Marshall Erich von Manstein. this was published in England by Arms and Armour Press in 1982 (ISBN 0-85368-555-X). this is a very good telling of his career with some fairly useful maps and 'The Fatal Decisions' by Lieutenant-General Siegfried Westphal which was published in London by Michael Joseph in 1956. This has a commentary on 6 different campaigns with contributions from senior officers involved in the actions. I'm very lucky that mine is a signed copy although it cost me an arm and a leg.
The best First World War memoir is 'Storm of Steel' by Ernst Junger which incidentaly came out in an excellent new translation last year. This is a cracking read from a true original, well worth looking out for.
