@Eric: signed copies are free of extra charge, of course. One just has to mention it when ordering.

@book is almost finished, but still three sets of images of fakes missing:

    -Assmann screw back GAB
    -JFS GAB
-Assmann cast in one piece fake (heavy pitting to reverse)

and one set of scans of one original missing:

-similar to JFS style fake, but without maker mark.

Please PM me if you have one of these badges and if you can deliver decent scans and/or photographs and want your badge published.

When the book is done, there are some more things to tend to before the actual release. Most of them, like founding own business, getting ISBN number, etc are already done, but besides choosing the best printing company, I still need to setup a sales website. Any help appreciated here. Everything up to here I could do myself, but I am an absolute dummy when it comes to creating a website.
    Cheers, Frank

Count me in for 2, one working and one for the "keeper" shelf. I would also think that Sam, our book dealer here in Canuckland would be interested in quite a few to distribute at the Southern Ontario shows.

Frank, any idea what volumes will be released next and in what order? How long do you figure between books?

                Comment

@Loggy: If Sam is interested, can you please forward me his contacts?

@Darrell: PAB will be definitely be the next volume. I will release a website with info about the books, fakes, news, etc. together with the release of volume 1. On that site, I will hold a poll from time to time among the readers, which badge they would prefer to be the next one featured. I assume, that could well be the IAB, the pilot's badge or any other popular badge. Anyhow, I will listen to my readers and comply with their needs/wishes.
Time between books? Now that I have some experience and better contacts, I guess volume 2 will not take as much time as volume 1. I expect to release volume 2 in autumn 2006. If the series is successful, I could invest in somebody doing the layout and some artwork for me, which is time consuming. That could speed up things even more. In short, I plan to add another volume each year. Since my interest in awards has always been wide, I feel confident to bring this series to 10 to 15 volumes. If I live long enough!
                  Cheers, Frank

ALL HAIL THE CONQUEROR! Frank - that is awesome! I for one will support you by buying everything you put out!

                    Looking forward to it,
                    Marc

PS - how will you handle updates, if any? For example, if you find a new nefarious fake?

                    Comment

                      @Marc:

I will have constant updates on the website and I will also update the book with every edition. Since printing and layout is in my hands, that should be easy. The next bigger print run might get an update, if neccessary. New fakes will be introduced on the website immediately when I have found out about them, but I will also show them here, of course.
                      Fight the good fight!
                      Cheers, Frank

                          Hello Frank

Put me down for a copy of both books. I would be willing to sell copies of the book here in Canada on my website and at the bigger shows in Toronto if you wish.

                          Regards
                          Steve Mezey

Let me know when the book is ready! 10-20 pieces will be sold easily - even here in the darkest corner of Europe...

                              Woohoo!

                              FRANK,

I hope for everyone's sake it is a success. It is obvious you put a lot of thought in this. Hopefully you will have it bound in a manner like Detlev's book so it will easily lay open on a table.

I think the numbered GAB eagle is the most impressive and menacing detail of any badge! What is the current update on publishing? Tentative date to publisher? How long it takes them to ship finished books to you, etc? It's obvious we are all itshing to get this book!!!

                              Good Luck.

                              Eric
