    Thank you guys for the encouraging words, I really appreciate it.
    It is going to be the kind of book I personally was always looking for and did not find so far. This does not mean that other books are bad. Not at all, I own and enjoy many of them. They just had different goals and that is perfectly fine. But a series which concentrates just on defining, describing and showing ALL types of a certain badge in a clear and simple way was sorely missed.

    I went with the drafts of the book to the Kassel show to present it to a number of dealers and the response was very good. Keep in mind that such a book will do good AND bad for the hobby. It will certainly help to raise interest in certain badges, because suddely a neglected badge like the GAB becomes "collectible", you can actually try to find all types which are in the book for your collection. We saw this happeneing with the PAB and to some extent with the IAB since about two years. A book like this will certainly raise interest AND prices.

    I am overwhelmed how many of you offered your help in this. Even if I was dissatisfied with the pictures initially, you kept working on it until the standard for the book was met. And for the cases where you could not make it work, many of you chose to actually send me your badges. Thank you for your trust!

    @John T:
    ..it is nice to finally see some nice works on the subject coming out of Germany.
    Sure, but never forget it is an international effort, people from all over the world helped to make this happen. It is a book in the spirit of this forum!

    @Robin Lumsden: yes, it is quite an undertaking! Being the researcher, writer, layouter, photographer, graphics designer, marketing, sales and logistics manager all in one person has many advantages, but can be exhausting. It is time consuming and when it is done, it is very expensive to bring it to the market for a private person, but I certainly had my reasons to go exactly down that road. An adventure but so far I do not regret any minute of the time invested. And even if I should sell just the first (small) print run, I can say that I created the book concept I always wanted as a collector for me and my friends!
    Cheers, Frank

      All I can add is that I know we'll continue to support Frank in his efforts, and that I look forward to the book - look like a must have!

        Dear Frank,

        Hang in there, all your work will be rewarded, and these kind of books will guide generations of collectors to come in a way no other book on III Reich Awards ever did before .

          It would be a tragedy for us all if this "first one" were not a screaming success.

          Frank if it would in anyway help to pay in advance let us know.

          Cheers,
          David.
          At Rathau on the Aller, the CO of 5th Royal Tanks advanced on foot to take a cautious look into the town before his tanks moved in. He encountered one of his own officers, a huge Welshman named John Gwilliam who later captained his country's rugby team, 'carrying a small German soldier by the scruff of his neck, not unlike a cat with a mouse.' The Colonel said: 'Why not shoot him?' Gwilliam replied in his mighty Welsh voice: 'Oh no, sir. Much too small.'

              No problem, David and Craig, I will cough up the money! It is a tragic story though. Like 99% of all you collectors, I am notoriously out of money. I will get a big tax repay beginning of next year, just about the right amount for a nice Ritterkreuz, which would have been my first one!

              I will sacrifice it for the book. In fact, so much sacrifice has gone into it that if it would have hair, eyelashes and high heels, I would not be able to tell the difference between it and my girlfriend anymore! Same kind of investment.

              The only difference: I hope it will be entertaining WITHOUT being able to talk!
              Cheers, Frank

                Book

                Frank;
                Will you be announcing the book's availability on this Forum?
                Or,do you collect a purchase list via PM?
                I want to purchase a copy too.
                I have a few "variant" badges you might find of interest.I'm willing to post them to you if interested.
                Best wishes for your book's success...

                    The offer still stands should the situation change, as I'm sure it does for everyone else. It isn't uncommon these days to pre-order, so I really don't think it would be a problem.

                    I'm sure the sale of your book will repay your hard work and an RK is just around the corner for you.

                    Like many others if I can be of any assistance, then please let me know.

                          Frank is a class act! He "met" me on this forum, and when I was in Germany over the summer he invited me over. Though the visit was too short, it was great! Frank, next time we will spend quality & quantity together, and the beer is on me!
