The big question than would be: does the typical Hollywood movies public also think like that? I bet they don't so it could become a brilliant movie but a total financial failure. And it's still the financial side that (unfortunately) decides the success of a movie.

Amazing facts about Das Boot, probably the best war drama ever made. It only cost $15 million to make by the way.

"Because the original TV mini-series was severely criticized in Germany for portraying World War II Germans sympathetically, the producer greeted the first American showing of the film at the Los Angeles Film Festival with great trepidation. They weren't sure how a former enemy nation in that war would react to the film, especially in a city with a large Jewish population, and their fears were reinforced when the audience applauded the opening caption saying 30,000 of 40,000 German men that went into war in submarines didn't come back. However, when it ended, the audience gave the film a standing ovation in appreciation of the artistry of the filmmakers."

"The picture was nominated for six Academy Awards which was at the time the highest number of Oscar nominations ever received by a foreign language film"

I remember it when it appeared at the movies, saw it twice, own every version, original DVD, the BluRay Directors cutk, and the almost 6 hour version (hoping that may come out one day in bluray). In my opinion, one of the BEST war movies (or anti war) ever made. Right up there with BoB, SPR and several others.

I finally managed to watch Fury last night. I am afraid to say I was very disappointed.
10 out of 10 to the team for the effort and attention to details, but overall the experience was underwhelming, a totally forgettable movie for me really.
Lots of flaws with it, I am really not being over critical , how anybody can say it was a great movie is beyond me.
The opening scenes with the anti-tank gun misses was an inauspicious start I feel.
I was also really looking forward to the Tiger 131 scene, that was disappointing, it was clear to me that the Bovington Team didn't really want to do a lot with 131, it didn't move around much, I do not blame them really
One question I have? Would the tracer fire have been so prominent, at times it was like watching a Star Wars movie.
Overall the film plodded on quite reasonably but uninspiring until the final battle scene at the crossroads, where it all became a little silly and fell apart, I was half expecting Captain America to make an appearance and save the day, it did have a rather comic book feel to it. I was quite bored by the end to be honest.
I may watch it again in 6 months if I am bored and need some light entertainment

              Are you on drugs?
Were you involved in the production of it by any chance ? Would you prefer we all start crying and blurt out it was a masterpiece and the best piece of cinematography we had ever laid witness to ? Lay on a lavish gala dinner and self congratulate all involved ???

It's amazing the knee jerk baby reactions by some, who are outraged that not everyone loved the movie as they did. Grow up Totenheads assessment was spot on in my and many others opinion..GET OVER IT

Battle of the Bulge has to be one of the worst war films ever made

Was that meant to be the highlight of the film ? I did notice the director made sure it was noticed !! haha
The sniper wasn't very good either was he !

If I remember correctly, which I cant, shows how much impact the movie had on me, the sniper scene was after dark in the evening, would the snipers have worn a veil when it was dark ?

I saw "Fury" recently for the first - and last - time.

It does not differ from the mainstream Hollywood war-movies; the pak40 round that bounces off a Sherman at 30 meters..??..would have gone straight through and brewed the tank. And lousy aim for the other German Anti-tank gunners. and a bataillion of germans WITH Panzerfaust cannot take out a single sherman at night..??..The movie is really boring and uninteresting, the plot is absent and the performances are not high.

After watching, I took out "Das Boot" and saw the directors cut - it is still the best (Anti-)war movie of all times though not new. Ofcourse, let me not forget to mention "die Brücke", the original old B/W movie - it also had real quality in the message.

Sorry, just noticed the comments of a few small-minded individuals who think it's okay to post personal insults. Well screw you .

Had you been a normal, reasonable individual and actually read what I was saying, you would have noticed I do not pass personal judgement on the film.

What I said was, if YOU think it's so effing bad, get off YOUR arse and do better.

It's very easy to pass judgement when it's not YOU that actually has to deal with ALL of the aspects, not just the bits you want, that are needed to make a production.

NO, I have nothing to do with the film , or it's making, I'm just sick of the continual crying of babies who have no means to put their money where their mouth is .

                            END OF.
