There is IMO a lot of unrelated stuff that could have been left out ( or better yet form a separate book)which would have made plenty of room for the missing insignia. The pictures are mostly excellent. It is a worthwhile supplement to existing works but don't throw away your Ulric or Angola books.

        for Obergruppen2

Have you even seen the Beaver Insignia book yet, or are you still
broadcasting opinions on a subject you know nothing about?
Nutmeg is starting to sound like a broken record, listing his same
        dis-satisfactions with the book repeatedly.
My offer for a refund applies to you, as well. You can send the book back
        any time:

          SS artifact book

I think this is going on forever, the book is fantastic!, never has their been a reference book study like this on items with WWII veteran provenance and the stories to go with the items, if anyone is not happy with it and it doesnt have what they want in it they can sure try to do a better job, GOOD LUCK. I dont think people know how much work goes into a book like this. Im ordering a 2nd copy for a WWII veteran friend of mine who has an item pictured in the book and yes its all 100% accurate on his account.

            Mark,
You have to develop a thicker skin. If you put something out there in the public arena, you'll always have harsh critics and nay-sayers. I bought the book and I have thoroughly enjoyed it! I believe that if you ask your fellow authors, they'll tell you that they had their critics too! But , the difference between you and your fellow authors and the critics is that you did something....they didn't!! Are sales good?? If they are, that's the proof of the pudding. If the book wasn't any good, you wouldn't be having great sales and all of the interest that the book has engendered!
I enjoy collecting and I am very appreciative of the majority of my fellow WAF members. I'm a cheapskate and I bought your book!! I also, finally(!), broke down and bought Dietrich Maerz's 2 books about the Knight's Cross and the German Crosses. Letting money slip through my fingers is extremely difficult......therefore, it must be a great book.
            Nuff' said,
            Tim

                odds n ends

On the previous page it was written:

"I know you have asked somebody else to step up and do the second book. Any word if that has happened yet?"

The answer is no. But three candidates immediately come to mind:

Nutmeg, ACHTUNG, and Obergruppen 2. Since this trio seems to have an endless list of deficiencies, regarding the Waffen SS Insignia edition of Beaver's book, surely they can show us all how to do it, by making the next volume up to 'their standards'. Perhaps all three of them should pool their talents together, how awesome would that be?

Don't hold your breath folks, all 3 of them put together couldn't produce a book of the quality of the one they keep trashing.

As to the thicker skin advice, I am simply following the tenets of Donald Trump, who advises to always counterattack, when attacked by others,
especially when you know you are right.

I've been through this before, with critics of my 7 previous books. I've tried ignoring criticisms from non-achievers and I've also tried responding to them.
It's more satisfying to hit back. But in the case of this book, particularly, I feel it deserves a lot better than the weak criticisms its detractors have offered thus far. Maybe the 3 posters listed above could post a list of all their published works? Again folks, don't hold your breath.

The highly positive reviews posted by the majority of readers should speak volumes, especially when pioniers of the hobby like Hritz and Toncar have given the book high praise.
I agree this thread has gone-on too long, but that is not by my choice,
The detractors always want to have the last word. Thus far, their misleading and false comments have required a response from the author.

You have quite a problem with anger , you need to settle down and have that beer. I've written as many books as you (on other then TR topics) and have recieved comments postive and some negative and/ or constructive on all. However, I don't postal about it. I said it was a good book and worth having and I mean it, but I have some legimate issues with it which apparently you can't handle hearing about in a rational manner. Either way you can relax now because I will comment no further on it . You can have the last words.

                        "Going postal"? I think not

Rather drastic hyperbole from Nutmeg, who makes a big stretch from me addressing the silly criticisms of this book, to shooting people, which is what 'going postal' has meant in the recent past...just a slight difference there.
This statement makes about as much sense as the baseless complaints
which have been posted about the book.

All you dissatisfied customers send the book back for a refund (all two
of you), and all who haven't seen it yet, but who have presumed to condemn it sight un-seen, please do not order it. It's YOUR loss and I don't even like to think of this fine book in the hands of clueless individuals, who just don't 'get' the importance of historical provenance.
Investment collectors and stuff collectors don't need this book and will never appreciate it. All they care about is:
                        1) Originality
                        2) condition
                        3) current monetary value

How they can think that History is unimportant in collecting TR militaria, is
                        totally baffling to me.

The book is fantastic, I carry it around in my house like nothing else.

I have never ever trashed your book, didn't even cross my mind, it is you who distort my words and my advice for you is to shift the gear to neutral because you have a serious self control problem !
I never insulted you or even said something that should upset you as much as you are upset now, you cannot handle opinions other than the ones that please you and that is your problem and not mine because you lack good manners ! Nice cold beer would be not a bad idea after all
