      cross of iron

When I was a kid, I loved the "Cross of Iron" and "The Keep." While "The Keep" isn't really a war movie, it's a great combination of war and monster...watch it. It had some good German equipment and uniforms.

I just saw Bridge at Remagen for the first time. I thought it was pretty good with fine performances by George Segal and Ben Gazarra. I thought there were a few pretty bad scenes though, such as the US tanks firing on the 88 battery...the way all the tanks were just lined up in a row was strange to me as was the fact that the 88's didn't manage to hit one tank. I'm sure the hillside would have been ranged..(I know just a move). What really bothered me though was when the Geman Major..Robert Vaughn goes back to HQ and it's swarming with Algemeine SS soldiers. Forgive my ignorance but...whaa? I thought all the Algemeine SS guys had to put away their black uniforms in
1939. If I'm right, how or why would the filmakers do this? But a pretty good movie nonetheless and like I said...good acting.

          No worries

I probably should not have brought it up now as it was awhile back Jens, and yes others from other countries would have found it maybe hard to understand.I wish i was a Fallschirjäger in WW2 or now even, but no im not at all one.Now back to the movie poll topic and any replies pm to me if its not full.

I voted for SPR even though BOB was better, but in a sense, BOB was not really a movie.

My second favorite is,well,I don't know the name of it!It was an old black and white Italian movie(no sub-titles either!),about an Italian soldier who was fighting on the Russian Front when he had enough, and walks home. Most of the movie was his adventures walking back to Italy. The only time I saw it was over 30 years ago,but several scenes are still clear in my mind(I think!).
The movie was called "Seven Beauties" and is well worth watching. John
